Following a visit to Josephine Pryde's exhibition The Splits, led by the art centre's public relations officer, Susanne Müller, a lecturer in Visual Arts and Art Sciences at the Université de Lorraine and affiliated to the Institut national supérieur du professorat et de l'éducation, is offering a talk entitled "Le réel à l'épreuve - l'épreuve du réel : regarder, photographier, encadrer".
Josephine Pryde's exhibition, The Splits, will provide an opportunity to question the place of photography in contemporary art and the specific characteristics of what is known as "plastic" photography, particularly in its relationship with reality and with viewers.
Josephine Pryde's photographic work invites us to explore the 'splits' suggested by the often enigmatic images on display, and their singular installation, which places great emphasis on the frame.
