The CAC - la synagogue de Delme invites you to a lecture by Hussein Nassereddine on Thursday 5 February 2026 at 4.45 p.m. at ÉSAL Metz as part of the ‘Écriture à l'œuvre’ study day.  

A multidisciplinary artist combining installation, writing, video and performance, Hussein Nassereddine is interested in collective narratives, poetry and language. He develops what he calls ‘fragile monuments’, which are sensitive, verbal or tactile. Two of his works are currently on display in the exhibition Paroles, Paroles, which can be seen in the former synagogue in Delme until 14 June 2026.

Forms of research: ‘Writing at work’

From 2 to 7 February 2026, ÉSAL is dedicating an entire week to contemporary writing practices, considered in all their forms: editorial, spatial, photographic, vocal and visual. The programme includes three workshops, a study day and an exhibition, inviting participants to discover writing as a true space for creation and experimentation (full programme available on the ÉSAL website).

Organised by Institut Page, ÉSAL's textual and editorial research laboratory, this study day explores the links between writing, publishing and artistic practices. To further explore issues related to writing a dissertation, a collective reflection on forms of research in art schools will be addressed: How to write in art school? How to think of text as an artistic gesture? What editorial, spatial or narrative forms are appropriate for art research?

Through lectures by four guests, Garance Dor, Hélène Laurain, Helene Marian and Hussein Nassereddine, we will examine the textual and editorial forms of research and writing in art, as well as their place in books, exhibitions and conferences.
