The art center invites the Vent des Forêts to present an exhibition project at the Gue(ho)st House throughout summer.
The Vent des Forêts is an open-air museum of contemporary art located in the woods of Meuse (55) and created on the initiative of six agricultural and forestry villages.
Since 1997, they have been inviting international artists to take a different look at nature and create ephemeral works of art in the forest. Covering an area of 5,000 hectares in the woods, more than one hundred works have been created and set out along the 45 km of signposted footpaths.
This context facilitates exchanges and meetings with local inhabitants who accompany them throughout their project.
Designed by Matali Crasset as a residential work of art in the woods that comply with the notion of sustainable development, the Woodland House (Maison Sylvestre) "Le Nichoir" provides visitors with overnight accommodation since 2013. This project comes as a result of a collaboration between the designer Matali Crasset, local craft producers and suppliers.
At the art center, the Vent des Forêts presents a part of the collection We trust in wood, a set of consumer products (wooden plates,...), small furnitures (stools,...) and fabrics created by the designer Matali Crasset. They take place in the Woodland Houses (Maisons Sylvestres). Between design and craft, these objects' production relies on local resources and inhabitants' knowledges.
